    Hillside Church Statement of Faith:

God: God is One. He is all-powerful, infinite and eternal. He is unchangeable in His being, wisdom, power,
holiness, justice, truth and love. He exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Revelation: God has revealed himself through His creation and through the Incarnate Word, Jesus Christ.

Scripture: The Old and New Testaments were verbally inspired by God and are a complete revelation
of His will for the salvation of mankind. They are the only infallible rule of faith and practice.

Creation: All people are created in God's image, for His glory, but have rebelled against God. All people
are born with a sinful nature and can be reconciled to God only through the atoning work of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ: Jesus Christ is totally God and totally man. He is God's eternal Son, who was conceived
by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice to
reconcile us to God. On the third day he arose bodily from the dead. He is now at the right hand of God
the Father interceding for His people and ruling over all.

Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is a divine person. Through the reading of God's Word and the
proclamation of the gospel, the Holy Spirit persuades us to repent of our sins and confess Jesus as Lord,
thereby receiving forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life.

Salvation: Jesus Christ provided salvation through His death on the cross. Those who repent and
believe are born again of the Holy Spirit and become children of God. Salvation is by grace alone through
faith which is manifested in good works.

Sanctification: It is God's will that each believer be sanctified and filled with the Holy Spirit, being set
apart from sin and the world. The Holy Spirit enables believers to live holy lives dedicated to the will of God.

The Church: The Church consists of all who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and are born again of the
Holy Spirit. Its purpose is to preach the gospel and make disciples. The local church is a body of believers
who join together to worship God, edify one another and care for one another.
